What it feels like to be there…

Belize is an amazing adventure playground: turquoise oceans, white sand islands, vibrant reefs, startling caves, verdant jungle and ancient temples. It really is quite the most spectacular place – and not short of luxurious yet laidback lodges to pass the evenings in either. It is home to the Great Blue Hole, one of the world’s premier dive sites.

What to do there…

Placencia is packed with activities and perfect for 7 days:

  • Major: Scuba-diving, Sailing, Boat-trips, Fishing, Cycling, Caving, Nature-walks, Cultural-visits, Historical-sites.
  • Other: Snorkelling, Swimming, Kid-friendly, Waterfall-bathing, Spa/Massage.

Where to stay…

Staying in the stunning villas and cottages of 5* Turtle Inn is like being on your own tropical film set – as you might expect of a resort designed by a certain Mr and Mrs Coppola. The stylish cabanas are artistically furnished and the crew will direct you off on a fantastic range of adventures and experiences in the local area.

Some practical information worth knowing…

  • Travel: Placencia is 2.5-3h from both Belize City and San Ignacio by car. San Ignacio area is about 2h from Belize City.
  • Weather: hot all year round with a cooling breeze, Jun-Nov is wetter and has a higher risk of hurricanes.

What the AdventureTemples travel community says…

The Belize Barrier Reef is part of the second largest reef in the world and a great place to dive, whatever your level. The stunning caves you see on land are often replicated under the ocean, but colonised and capped by coral. Amazing! If you prefer your fun on land, check out the Mayan ruins scattered throughout the jungle. Less touristy than some Mexican sites, you can enjoy them in peace.
