What it feels like to be there…

Sandwiched between imposing Mount Etna and the beautiful Ionian Sea, Taormina is a pretty Sicilian town in a treat of a location. There are so many great historical sites and exciting things to do it is a real struggle to work out what to leave out. Why not jump in a helicopter and pick your favourites from the air?

• Travel: Taormina is 1h drive from Catania Airport, a 1.5h flight from Rome. Naples is 1h flight from both Catania and Rome and 1.5h from the Amalfi Coast.
• Weather: warm all year round, hot Jun-Sep, wetter Oct-Feb.

At over 3,300m, climbing Mount Etna is a challenge, but what makes it truly special is the scene that greets you at the top. A barren, black, lava-coated landscape, capped with ice and still fuming from some of its craters. At night you can often see the orange glow as molten rocks spurt out and run down the sides. Fortunately, it is so closely monitored there is little real danger!
