What it feels like to be there...

Niseko is blessed with track-free powder throughout the winter season, and its beautiful mountains and cool river rapids are bathed in pleasant warm sun most of the year. Hokkaido island is Japan’s ultimate adventure playground and a great luxury activity destination for travellers looking for something unusual and exclusive.

What to do there…

Niseko is packed with activities and perfect for 7 days:
  • Major: Skiing/Snowboarding, Off-Piste, Snow-mobiles, Snow-shoeing, Hot-springs, Nature-walks.
  • Other: Night-skiing, Rafting, Fishing, Mountain-biking, Golf, Kid-friendly.

Where to stay…

The Chalets at Country Resort is a beautiful estate with 33 serviced 4* chalets with 2-5 bedrooms. Exclusive and private, its wood cabins fit perfectly into their environment and are packed with all the facilities you might need. The helpful concierge service sets up activities and equipment, stocks your kitchen and books meals out.

Some practical information worth knowing…

  • Travel: Niseko is about 2h by air and road from Tokyo or Osaka. Karuizawa is 2-2.5h by train from Tokyo.
  • Weather: Niseko’s ski season is Nov-May, with warm weather the rest of the year. Nagano’s ski season is Dec-Apr, with the region experiencing warm weather May-Oct.

What the AdventureTemples travel community says…

This is a mountain escape like no other. Where most ski resorts are a bit crowded and impersonal, this one feels as if it has been designed just for you. There is still a great buzz in the village and on the bigger lifts, but when you are out on the mountain or back in your chalet, it feels like the world has melted away. The friendly concierge service really ‘gets’ what you need and tries hard to exceed expectations. We'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. What it feels like to be there...

Japan’s cities are super high-tech and bustling, but its fascinating countryside is quiet and serene. Visit your fill of temples, castles and beautiful cherry blossom-filled parks and get up into the mountains for fresh powder and dramatic rocks. Take time out to watch snow monkeys in the hot springs before enjoying your own onsen spa.

Some practical information worth knowing…

Tokyo and Osaka airports are the main travel hubs in Japan, and other locations can be reached in style either by plane or on the speedy bullet trains. Coastal Japan is typically warm, especially in the south, but in mountainous regions the temperature drops away fast.

What it feels like to be there...

The mist-filled swooping valleys and ancient pagoda temples of the region attain even greater peacefulness in comparison with its soaring skyscrapers and bustling metropolises. Seek out moments of Zen calm and let its fascinating cultures challenge your views.

Some practical information worth knowing…

Singapore and Hong Kong airports are the largest travel hubs in the region, but Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo and Osaka are all easily reachable (often direct) from the major cities of the world. The climate in the coastal regions varies from wet to dry as the latitude increases, and is influenced by the Pacific monsoon system. Further inland, especially in the shadow of the Himalayas, the weather is colder and dryer. European languages, especially English, are only sporadically understood, even in tourist areas. But with calm hand signals, it is easy to get most points across. Getting money from cash machines is straightforward with any major provider at airports, but otherwise more difficult – so plan ahead.
